Prepare to be amazed

What an exciting time in the world of fragrance!!!
The company has been investigating many different methods of scenting our homes with UB products. They tested everything from candles to reed diffusers, plug-ins to room sprays… wanting to find the best way to fill our homes with inviting fragrance.

In the end, they found the best method was oil warming. UB Perfume Oils make the most fabulous home fragrances and are safe to use in an oil warmer. I'm astonished at the quality of home fragrances our products make. I probably shouldn't be so surprised, but the Urban Botanic Home Collection is more fragrant and clean smelling than any candle or other form of home fragrance I've experienced before. Ever! I would love for you to discover the same!

Did you know that your average 24 oz candle burns for about 10 hours? One bottle of our perfume oil will "burn" for 1000 hours

1/10th the cost of most candles:Now, with the Urban Botanic Home Collection, you no longer have any of those problems.Just place 2-3 drops of Urban Botanic oil on the warming plate, turn it on and enjoy 6-8 hours of fragrance. Turn it off, and the scent lingers. Just turn it on the next day, if there is still oil in the warmer.

Here are some great "fall" recipes to use with your warmer

Apple Pie: One drop each of Green Apple, Maple Spice, and Cinnamon

Brown Sugar Fig: Two drops Brown Sugar and one drop Fig - this one is a dead ringer for the popular fragrance, and fabulous for fall.

Almond Cookie: One drop each of Almond and Cinnamon and two drops Coconut.

Harvest: One each of Vanilla, Allspice, and Maple Spice

More about Herbys

When I joined Urban Botanic, I took the personality test and it came back that I was mainly an Herby.

Here is a bit more about Herbys: We always remember birthdays and send you a card. Herbies are the most thoughtful of all the personality types. They care about others and love to take care of others. They worry about everyone and everything. They will hang on your every word and whatever you are telling them, becomes real to them. This sometimes makes them appear to be nosy as they ask so many questions. They also want everyone to succeed and see the best in everyone. This trait often causes them to get hurt. They often get caught up in helping others and forget about themselves.

The Herby oils are Lavender, Almond, Garden Mint, Basil, Spearmint, Peppermint, Sage, Tomato Leaf, and Chamomile.

When you look at this list, you see the herbs that are used to soothe and relax. Definately the Herby personality.

In the New Scent Collections there is Lavender, Garden Mint, Almond, Coconut, White Musk, and Rose which can be purchased at a deep discount. As you can see, the collections uses some of the Herby scents, but then adds some others to round it out a bit.

The following which is called Pink Pearls makes an awesome fragrance. coconut, white musk, and rose. I really like our rose because it is not like most rost fragrances, it is not overpowering

Gemini

Being born under the third sign of the zodiac brings to the fore these attributes of intellectual expression within you. Gemini is a versatile sign and is found to take interest in many different facets of life. If you could be accused of anything, it would be that your interests are so diverse you’re sometimes superficial, taking a bit of this and a bit of that and not deepening your knowledge of the subject in question. Likewise, many Geminis are quite high-strung and tend to spread themselves very thin, taking on too much and not completing what they begin.

The third sign of Gemini also relates to travels and short journeys. As a Gemini you’ll find yourself restless on many occasions and your itchy feet will cause you to travel frequently. These journeys may not always be long, but you are always on the go. You thirst for new experiences. Even on short journeys and in transit, you are the sort of person who would love to meet new people and share your ideas—even with perfect strangers. You’re fascinated by the way the human mind works and the way people interact generally. Again, you must curb the tendency to frivolous mental activity and excessive thought, because you may be high-strung and your mental efforts could, from time to time, cause you exhaustion.

You can’t handle close-mindedness of any sort. With your inquisitive and restless mind you have an eclectic taste, having dabbled in many different viewpoints and topics. You’re aware of the different types of personalities in life and are, therefore, liberal and free-thinking in your approach.

Taurus

April 21 - May 20
Taurus The Bull
Ruling Planet: Venus
Element: Earth
Famous Taureans:Audrey Hepburn, Cher, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Benjamin Spock, Sigmund Freud, Katharine Hepburn, Queen Elizabeth II, Bing Crosby, Candice Bergen, William Shakespeare, Adolf Hitler

Basic Profile:conservative, sensible, responsible, meticulous, artistic, loyal consistent, dependable, generous, physically strong, sexual, but can be rigid, stubborn, selfish, suspicious, hot-tempered

Taureans feel good about themselves, and so make them more lively and satisfying contributors to human life as a whole.

They are great to have around in a crisis because they are dependable, firm and unshaken. An earth sign, they seek harmony and wholesomeness, and they value beauty. They are slow to change, and can be jealous and possessive. They don’t like being pushed or rushed.
These same characteristics can be found in the Fruity personality, which is committed, responsible and true-blue friends. Their desire for peace and harmony mirrors the Herby personality.
Are you a Taurus? Take the personality test and see if you come up Fruity/Herby.
I have a couple of very nice frgrances for Taurus men and women

Spring is in the air

Time for new and fresh things.

It's time to do spring cleaning, a time for new growth and new beginnings.

How about a fresh scent just for spring? Honeysuckle is the hot new fragrance for spring.

Most of the top perfumeries have a honeysuckle-based scent, or will be introducing one this year. Honeysuckle is not just for women, but also men. Fahrenheit (for men) by Christian Dior has honeysuckle as one of its main ingredients.

A little bit about honeysuckle: Did you know that honeysuckle is not really a flower, it is a blooming vine. Because of this it falls in our leafy category.
Soft and sweet, this flower-like fragrance is a "top note," meaning that it is the first scent you smell when you spray it on, but also the most volatile and the first to evaporate as the day goes by, so we can mix it with some woodsey to give it some staying power.

I did a honeysuckle and gardenia blend for my mom. Not crazy about that one, that is ok, I have 64 other perfume oils for you to try:
Another new thing for spring. I have a hostess tic, tac, toe game that can be used with Urban Botanic ( also taste of Gourmet and Vantel Pearls) so book your workshop today for May

Leafy, Leafy, bo Beafy,......

A Leafy’s favorite thing to do is gain knowledge. Their aspiration is to understand. Leafies are always alert.
Einstein was probably a Leafy, as most geniuses are. Leafies are always thinking of new ways to do things. They’re very innovative thinkers and inventors, often working on several ideas and theories at the same time.
Leafies aren’t afraid of hard work and they use their talents in obtaining information in every aspect of life whether starting a new business, getting a degree, or purchasing a car. They make sure they have all the details before making any decision, big or small.
Leafies are the most creative people on the planet and they approach every aspect of life with originality. Sometimes Leafies have extremist and nonconformist ideas. Does this describe you, take the personality test to find out

From Karlene and her take of the men and women of Grey's Anatomy.

Cristina's signature scent reflects both the Leafy and Woodsy sides of her personality, with Green Tea (3), Bergamot (2), and Sandalwood (4).

George O'Malley is a yummy honey. He's so sweet you just want to hug him. His fragrance recipe contains Almond (2), Chocolate (1), Oak Moss (2), Pina Colada (2) and Honeydew Melon (2).

Wear a Melody

What does it take to make a melody? Oprah had a piano prodigy on her show recently. Oprah picked out 5 notes; E,F, G, B, C. The prodigy then put them together and in about 45 seconds improvised a song using this 5 note melody. Amazing. There are 88 keys on a piano keyboard.

The same 7 notes in varying tones repeated over and over from very low to very high with keys to make them sharp or flat. The combinations are endless and so are the melodies. That is basically what we do at Urban Botanic. We have 66 "keys" or perfume oils. We have high notes and low notes and a lot of notes inbetween. And the combination of these notes is endless. Some combinations are sharp and some are flat and others are simply amazing.

We can also take 5 simple notes; Chocolate, Coconut, Heliotrope, Vanilla, Cedarwood and you get an amazing, smoky haunting scent. However, if you change one note- say change Cedarwood and put Sandalwood instead and it changes the whole melody. Where before it was smoky, now it is fresh. Before it reminded you of winter and perhaps curling up by a fireplace with a good book and some cocoa, now it feels like summer and swimming and picnics. All with just the change of one note. It is no longer haunting, but lilting instead.Come join us and learn how to make your own scent melody. The combinations are endless.

I borrowed this article from my upline Sandra

Turn up the Heat with some Spice!

Your personality is joyous, and animated. You’re always the one cheering others up when the
going gets rough. As a Spicy, you love life deeply and are happy, spontaneous, and entertaining. A great story teller, people around you might describe you as, “sparkling”. Spicies are very intelligent, multi-talented people. Go get-em! Spicies are easy to recognize from their over-the-top reactions to everything.

One of the fragrances of the spicy line is Asian Spice. I really love this oil. It is a cloudy red, and will give the product a pink color. This is because Asian Spice contains a mixture of Patchouli, Sandalwood, Amber and Dragon's Blood. It is the Dragon's Blood that gives it the deep dark red color
Dragon's blood is a bright red resin that is obtained from different species of four distinct plant genera: Croton, Dracaena, Daemonorops, and Pterocarpus. The red resin was used in ancient times as varnish, medicine, incense, and dye.

Fruit Salad Galore

The Fruity personality is friendly, committed, supportive, hard-working, and encouraging. They’re responsible and mature – all of these characteristics make a Fruity a dream employee for any employer.
Fruities need to express themselves and have a very independent nature, great faith in themselves, and tremendous courage.

One of the more unusual fragrances in the Fruity line is Naked. Thought that would get your attention, as it does everyone's

Naked is the aroma of fresh green apples, perfectly blended with honeydew and spicy pear notes. If you want a fresh, fruity, but sexy scent that is definitely different and bright, this is the fragrance for you. Naked blends well with the other fruits and the spicy scents. It also does well mixed with the woodsy scents.

Scrapbooking Made Easy

I really love to scrapbook, but don't have a dedicated room that I can leave my scrapbooking and rubber stamping materials out. So I was so excited to find Heritage Makers, an online scrapbooking company.

You do everything online: you don't even have to download any programs ( we even have a digital scrapbooking program) and when you are through, you receive a beautiful hardbound book. You can take a tour of our products and even a tour of how to do an album. You can upload photos, used scanned photos/layouts, and make digital scrapbook pages.

I did a family fold for a Vantel Pearls party. It was so easy, and I did not have to get my husband to drag all my products out.

Are you getting married, how about a Photo Journal that is used as a sign in book.

I am working on an album for my mom about her sister that passed away a bit ago.

Ah!!. The smell of flowers.

The above flower is a Pulmeria. Plumeria is one of the most popular tropical flowers in Hawaii. You can find plumeria easily along streets, or shopping areas in Maui.
I was excited to see this flower as one of Urban Botanic's perfume oils is Pulmeria and I had never heard of it before. It is a very pretty flower, that comes in a variety of colors. It is a very light and airy scent.

I am having a vendor fair on Saturday and made some samples of the fragrance families. I used Plumeria in the floral family. So very nice.

I bit about Florals:

Florals love aesthetic things - perfume, flowers, candles, music, anything that makes their personal space feel good. Florals are the ultimate flirts! They've always been this way. Florals have a great amount of confidence. They're popular people with big dreams and fantasies. They're extremely romantic, often very successful, and usually a little exhibitionist.
Are you a Floral? Take the personality test to see

Again I borrow from Karlene Browning, another Fragrance Designer with the Grey's Anatomy list: This time it is Addison
Addison's daytime scent is a light and clean mix of Juniper (2), Coconut (1), and White Musk (2). Her nighttime scent (of course she has two scents, she's a Floral!) is a romantic blend of Jasmine (2), Linden Blossom (1), Gardenia (1) and Egyptian Musk (1).

April: Aries

My mom's birthday is Monday and I decided I wanted to make her a fragrance.
I decided I would try and do the personality test: and I was really surprised that is showed her to be a woodsey. and then everything else is about evenly distributed.

I wanted to use honeysuckle and gardenia for sure, so will experiment tomorrow and let you know what I came up with.

Aries hate to wait, they don't like to admit to failure, and don't take well to the advice of others. The color for Aries is red, which speaks to both their strength and their passion for life. These characteristics point to a spicy, woodsy scent personality with a bit of floral thrown in.

Are you like Hansel and Gretel:

Being led into the woods?

Not sure what I mean? Take the personality test to find out if you are a Woodsy. My second highest breakdown is Woodsy.

Self-assurance and independence are the hallmarks of a Woodsy. They are quick thinkers and because of that, often talk very fast. Woodsies are bold, powerful, and have what it takes to get a task done. Although Woodsies are ambitious and aggressive with their goals and dreams, they are very compassionate, loving, and faithful. They're the most honorable people you can find

I got some of the following information from a fellow team member: Karlene Browning, Fragrance Designer with Urban Botanic.

She has done the ladies and men of Grey's Anatomy with personality tests. Bailey is a Woodsey, and her signature scent is a woodsy blend of Oakmoss: 1 and White Musk: 8
Our Woodsey oils are Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Oakmoss, Pine ( just what you would think about when you think of the woods), but also Myrrh. Like the Herby with the 3 mints, Woodsey has 3 musks: Egyptian, China, and White
Egyptian musk: rounds out most blends
China musk: very oriental in fragrance

My husband is a Woodsey, mostly and we made a fragrance for his shower gel: It has oakmoss, pine, egyptian musk, and cinnamon in it, then i added a bit of fig. He wanted a specific smell: and he ended up calling it Old Print Shop

Happy Easter to those that celebrate Easter

I had the fortune to go to an Easter festival the other day at a Russian Orthadox Church.

They had Ukrainian pysanky eggs everywhere. All sizes and all designs.

Pysanky comes from a Ukrainian verb "pysaty" which means 'to write', so actually a pysanka is an egg that is written on.
This lady is demonstrating how it is done. The eggs in front of her are eggs at the different stages.
While watching her, I found out she will be doing a class after Easter, so guess who signed up.
I love creating things, so that is why I am so excited to belong to Heritage Makers. It is a way to do my scrapbooking all online, and then receive hardbound books of the finished product.

30 day challenge

I found another blog: Carrie and she issued a challenge: 30 posts in 30 days

So I am taking her up on her challenge. Wonder if it counts to do several in one day ;)

A little about Herbys

Herbies feel deeply for others and have the gift of empathy. They are very sincere when they encourage others; they genuinely want people to succeed. They see the good in others which can sometimes cause them to get hurt

The Herby oils that we use at Urban Botanic Parties are Lavender, Almond, Garden Mint, Basil, Spearmint, Peppermint, Sage, Tomato Leaf, and Chamomile.

Of the 3 mints, Garden Mint is an earthy mint that's blended with patchouli and oakmoss. The patchouli and oakmoss give this scent a richness and depth that the other mints (peppermint and spearmint) don't have, without overpowering it's light crisp aroma. Garden Mint is a cool, grounded fragrance sure to win the heart of any Herby personality. It goes well with almost any of the other oils, adding a sweet gentle tang to any recipe. It's not as strong as Peppermint, and it's sweeter than Spearmint.

One of my husband's favorite scent is almonds. Our Almond goes a long way, being that it is a basenote. Tyhe fragrance will linger over a long time.

One of the other Fragrance Designers used the men and women of Grey's Anatomy to tell about the different families. See Karlene Browning's post here

Izzie: signature scent is reminiscent of a lovely English Garden, with Rose (5), Lavendar (6) and Garden Mint (3).

What is your signature scent?

Sarah Jessica Parker has one, so does J.Lo. What am I talking about? I am talking about your very own custom-blended signature scent to suit your personality!

But how do you determine your Scent Personality? Urban Botanic's Personality Test is the first step to create your very own scent. It has been scientifically developed to help guide you to your fragrance family. Are you fruity, floral, herby, leafy, woodsy or spicy? Take Urban Botanic's online test and find out!

When I took the test, I came out a herby with some woodsey!
then I went about making a custom scent, my husband even got into it and wanted me to make one for him. He came up with the name "old print shop"

Welcome to my blog
